Cross stitch embroidery is pixel art as well of course. Here is a woman that really does a fantastic job with it. With a limited amount of pixels Ruby Khan(?) totally nails it: ZZTop, Vilage People, The Royal Tenebaum, Hugh Heffner and his bunnies, Andre the Giant, Stevie Wonder, Rumours. etc etc. Find Patty Hearst.

Go to her Flickr site to see it all upclose and more plus you can check out who is who. Most of these characters you should be able to make with a set of the Magnetic Pixels , just not all at the same time. Then you would have to buy multiple sets.
